Hello everyone!!

Well, let’s start by introducing myself to all of you. My name is Karla, I was born in Mexico City and have been living here all my life. My concern for the security is huge, as we all know; my country is going through a crisis in the war of drugs at the moment.

Every day we have bad news on TV, radio, newspaper, etc, about innocent people being killed here and there, kidnaps and all you don’t like to hear. And when you think about coming on vacation you say “What if I get kidnap?” “What if I get robbed?” and many more questions that make you don’t want to come or be afraid. You need to know that it seems worse than it is, always.

Here in Mexico City we don’t see that, I have never been robbed in this city, and so many people I know. We are so many that the chances of getting in any of these situations are reduced and you are only 1 in 20,000,000 of people. Obviously being foreign increases the possibility if you are walking around in Centro Historico or any other place looking lost like a tourist, with your camera around your neck, or any accessory that calls the attention of thieves like anywhere else… So please, avoid that. And also, don’t go to places that are famous for being dangerous, not even I do that.

I can’t assure that getting in any of these cases won’t happen to you because we never know… But I do know how you can come and be safer. I am worried about this because I love my country despite everything, and I want people to continue to come and get to know our history and culture.

My intentions here are the best. I want you to ask me everything you want to know about Mexico, and Mexico City, especially because I live here. I can give you reliable information about hotels, hostels, places to eat, prices, tips, transportation like how to use the metro, buses and their costs, quick routes to avoid paying lots of money on cabs, information about good bars, clubs, museums, events, and everything I know. You need to know that I do this because I would like to be treated the same way if I was coming to another country, i dont like when people try to rip you off for being a tourist! If you want a full immersion in the Mexican culture come and ask a Mexican! Get to know the REAL MEXICO CITY!

I will also post some pictures if its needed, or send you some if its required...

So let’s start!

Ask, ask, and ask!

PS. If this text needs any correction please let me know. ;)
